During the late 1970's and early 1980's I spent many an enjoyable hour watching bands at the then Gaumont Theatre. Over the years my musical tastes changed and evolved and the gigs I attended reflected this, some of the standout memories include watching Hawkwind and Genesis in 1979 and 1980 respectively, The Cure in 1982 and Simple Minds in 1984. The Mayflower Theatre is an important part of Southampton's heritage and offers the city an important venue for live entertainment.
