My Story Memory: Kim Furnish remembers seeing Santana
My first memorable visit to the then Gaumont was in 1974 to see Santana, supported by Earth Wind and Fire. My Sister's boyfriend, now husband, wanted to go and she didn't. Lucky me! I was allowed to go and the memory of the colour and sound of that concert is so vivid. I have no memorabilia up to 1991 but from there I have 53 tickets which I keep adding to. My first ticket is The Rocky Horror Show in 1991 and the most recent Billy Elliot. My regret is that I was not interested to see Les Miserable until I saw the film and realised why it is so popular. Please bring it home. Family is very important to me and shared experiences at the Mayflower are invaluable. I introduced my children to the theatre by taking them to shows like Barnum (1992) Cinderella on Ice (1995) and Joseph (1996). My eldest Granddaughter and I have our special time at the theatre with shows like Oliver (2012) and more recently Wind in the Willows (2016). Her special memory would be a surprise seat in the box for Hetty Feather (2016).
