I will always remember where I was on Decimal Day, 15th February 1971. I was up in the "Gods" at the Gaumont with some friends. We had a great evening seeing Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
At the interval we all bought the usual ice creams and I believe it was the first time I had purchased anything with the new decimal coins.
A great show & a night I will always remember for more than one reason.
I was born and raised in the centre of Southampton and over the years I have visited The Gaumont/The Mayflower many times to see both films & shows. Many great evenings proceeded by drinks and followed by meals in Commercial Road or Bedford Place.
