Empire Theatre was fortunate enough to stay open for the majority of the war and did not face any significant damage during any air raids. In the build up to D Day, soldiers were brought into the theatre and given a screening of the plans for the day. This is a diary entry from Dennis Saint who worked as a film projectionist at the theatre throughout the war.
